Gotham on the Brink
Grand Central Station
Gotham Grand Central Station is the single largest rail center in the US. It is connects the Gotham subway system, a related cargo-carrying underground rail system and the rest of the US. Administered by the borough of Manhattan, it actually resides on the shore in New York state.
It is a beautiful (thanks to generous donations by various millionaires in the Gilded Age) transportation hub that boasts over 100 tracks entering and leaving the city. It also has a sprawling restaurant and hotel area, a major entertainment hub, and a massive maintenance center. The complex altogether covers a total of 48 acres.
The Hudson river posed a considerable challenge, being very wide and fast-flowing but the city has continually built and rebuilt bridges and tunnels to ensure the fast and safe flow of goods and people through the area.
